The Today Show recently did a story on fighting belly fat and they did have a few tips that could be very useful.

Foodfacts.com has learned from the broadcast that a person fighting belly fat should eat five foods regularly. These five foods are rich in monounsaturated fats, which are known to reduce bad cholesterol levels in the blood and will lower the risk of heart disease.

The five foods you should eat to flatten your belly are:

Avocados: A small avocado is 250 calories, making them calorie dense, still, they are packed with monounsaturated fats and should be eaten regularly. You should have a few slices at a time.

Beef: Lean beef, but not ultra lean beef (as it will not have enough monounsaturated fat) should be eaten regularly. You should also keep the portions small. Six ounces of lean beef is a serving.

Nuts: Most nuts are rich in monounsaturated fats and will help eliminate belly fat. Once again, a serving size is small. You should only eat a handful of shelled nuts per snack, and if you buy them shelled, that will slow down how fast you eat them, and satisfy you better. Walnuts however, are not rich in mono unsaturated fats, but are also good for you as they have but have omega 3 fatty acids, which fight cancer, heart disease, depression, and a host of other illnesses.

Olives: Green olives are especially good for fighting belly fat when eaten in moderation. Have them on your salads and eat a few as part of a quick snack.

Oils: While people like to avoid oils when dieting, you should consider several oils. They are olive oil, safflower oil, and sunflower oil, just keep your serving to one teaspoon, or a drizzle. Do not get carried away.

Of course, the fastest way is to fight belly fat is to lower overall calories.
